This post is all about sharing some tips that help you manage your time effectively. Here are the 10 best ways to be good at time management –

Make a Time Audit

Just like money, you can make an audit for your time-consuming pattern. This is important because sometimes we think we do a lot of work during that day You can find it hard to accomplish your main task. The only thing you do during the day is only putting out the fire. You finish one thing, the other one already waiting.

What happened during the day, have you already made a note about your daily activities? The idea here is simply to take a note of the timeframe mentioning what you did during that time. After you make a note, take a look at your schedule.

If you have a hard time making a draft of your time schedule, you can install some related apps on your smartphone to help you make a time audit.

Make a time limit for each task

You can still use the time audit notes and gain more impact to manage your time effectively. After you already have all of the daily schedules, now it’s a great idea to put a time limit for each task. Time limitations are usable not only for office work but you can also use it for your household chores. Here are some ideas –

  1. Finishing lunch in 15 minutes

  2. Taking only important phone calls

  3. Taking a shower not more than 20 minutes

  4. Watching Netflix for not more than 120 minutes

  5. Doing work from home projects for not more than 60 minutes with 10 minutes breather

You can combine it with the time audit to find the best schedule combination for you.

Using 80/20 Rule

Also known as the Pareto principle, which is 80 per cent of your result is coming from 20 per cent of your effort. For instance, when you’re selling something most of your sales are coming from a small group of customers. That is, 80% of your sales are coming from 20% of your customers.

You can apply this principle to manage your time effectively. Find the 20% of your time usage that can bring you 80% of the results.

Break into smaller tasks

One reason we can’t manage time effectively is we see our tasks so big. We know the finish line but after we do the warm-up, the target line is still so far away. It will affect your motivation.

There’s a reason why every climbing path on the mountain has a checkpoint. The checkpoint will make the journey more reachable and can evaluate everything we have accomplished.

More of it, you can take step by step needed to reach your goals.

Make a Plan Ahead

Do you have any idea what you’re going to do the second you wake up every morning? To become more effective you can make a plan the night before you’re going to sleep. Take 30 minutes before sleep to note some important points to build tomorrow.

If you didn’t manage to make a plan before sleep you can do it first thing in the morning, so after you wake up you make a three or four to-do list immediately. This way you always know what you are going to do first. Make a plan for today’s activity.

Do your most important task immediately

If your job is to eat two frogs, the best way to eat is the biggest one – Mark Twain

The above quote is a parable and not to take it literally, but the point is you do the most uphill task first before you move to another task.

Since we all have a natural amount of bigger energy at the AMs than the PMs. In the morning, you still haven’t drained, yet you have the full motivation and energy to tackle what is important.

Use Technology

This is the easiest tip to make your time management more effective. Use the technology as you have everything in-built in your smartphone. For instance, alarms are not monotonous anymore since you can use Spotify to wake you up. In addition, you can make multiple wake-up alarms every minute until you get your body out of the bed.

You can use any software application to manage your schedule.n What app have you used to manage your time?

Delegate Your Tasks

This is another level of breaking your bigger tasks into smaller ones. When you already break the tasks but you can’t still manage them, it’s time to delegate them to someone else.

Turn Off Your Social Media’s Notifications

Even if social media is important for promoting your work, you should consider turning it off while you’re working on your tasks. You can simply turn off your notifications or you can simply put it on sleep mode. The reason being, it is the temptations of social media that are big enough that can make you distracted. For instance, you just want to take a look for 15 minutes but sometimes, there you go, you’ve lost a couple of hours only for Instagram, Twitter or Facebook.

Take A Break

To stay productive you must remember that you’re not a machine, especially if you’re doing a job all by yourself. If you keep pushing yourself you’ll get overwhelmed. When you’re tired you won’t get the result as you want it to be. Hard work is a must but when you’re doing it too much, you’ll break down at some point.
